In 2016, I provided the voiceover for the Draw Slasher game trailer, as well as voicing characters and creating in-game vocal sounds throughout the game.
Draw Slasher is a fast-paced, action-packed indie game featuring hand-drawn animation and a distinctive visual style. Players control Hanzo, a not-so-high ninja on a mission to rescue his family from the Pirate Monkey Zombies™.
The game’s mechanics are built around drawing mouse gestures to slash, jump, dash and unleash Ninjutsu techniques, creating a frantic and highly physical gameplay experience.
I voiced the official trailer for Draw Slasher, along with character voices and a wide range of in-game vocal sounds — a style of performance that sits firmly within my character voiceover work.
Game trailers require a very specific style of delivery. The voice needs to match the pace and energy of gameplay while remaining clear, engaging and memorable within a short runtime.
That balance of performance and timing is especially important in character-led voiceover projects, where the voice becomes part of the gameplay experience rather than simply narrating it.
Draw Slasher was released on Steam in October 2016 and supports Windows, Mac and Linux platforms, bringing its distinctive visual style and energetic sound design to a wide audience.
If you’re developing a game, trailer or interactive project and need character voices, vocal effects or narration, I’d be happy to help.
