By eck, it weren't too bad.
I think I do a pretty decent Northern accent, and there is no approval as good as being asked (and paid) for my best Northern accent for the Sheffield Star. I do actually live in Yorkshire so some of the northern-ness has rubbed off on me, including keeping pigeons (joke). Despite plenty of other northern voiceovers, I got the gig. How odd. Hey ho, here it is in all it's Yorkshire-ness. If you'd like to hear some more examples of my best TV ads, check out my commercial voiceover showreel and perhaps my explainer video showreel as well.
The Star, often known as the Sheffield Star, is a daily newspaper published in Sheffield, England, from Monday to Saturday each week. Originally a broadsheet, the newspaper became a tabloid in 1993. The Star, the weekly Sheffield Telegraph and the Green 'Un are published by Sheffield Newspapers Ltd. I love doing work for local papers and radio stations and I'm always happy to receive a new job inquiry.
Are you looking for a northern voice? I'll gladly audition, failing that, I know a guy that knows a guy. I have a bunch of other voices in my repertoire and you can see a selection of these different voices in my character showreel. Please get in touch. I'd be very happy to send a short sample of your script to you before you book me. Just send a few lines of the script so you can be sure I'm right for your brand. I make the whole process as easy as possible with 99% of the jobs delivered the same day.
