I voice the radio adverts for Mustard Car and Van Insurance, and it is one of those campaigns that really gets heard. The ads run right across Bauer radio stations and, because the campaign is used as play-if-gap airtime filler, they are on constantly. That means the read has to feel natural, easy to listen to and never overdone.

This is a very conversational style of voiceover. It is casual, relaxed and direct, which suits the brand really well. There is a skill to making that kind of read sound effortless. It still needs timing, warmth and clarity, but without ever sounding like you are trying too hard. When it is done properly, it feels like a real person talking rather than a voiceover trying to sell at you.

Mustard Car and Van Insurance Voiceover

I really enjoy voicing the more casual end of the spectrum. A natural, down-to-earth delivery can be incredibly effective in radio advertising, especially when a brand wants to sound approachable and confident rather than over-polished or shouty. That style also links nicely with my work on Hotels.com, where the performance needed that same sense of ease and personality.

At the same time, range is a big part of what I do. Alongside conversational commercial reads like this, I am also very much at home with character and performance-led work including David Attenborough-style voiceovers, football commentator voiceovers, Halloween voices and of course Santa voiceovers. That mix of natural commercial reads and larger character styles is what keeps the work varied and fun.

If you are looking for a conversational British voice for a radio advert, audio campaign or brand promo, do get in touch. Whether you need something casual and chatty, warm and trustworthy, or a little more characterful, I can record it quickly from my professional voiceover studio and deliver broadcast-quality audio fast.
